Our Message to the Community regarding the Eaton Fire
Dear friends and collaborators,
We write to you with heavy hearts, mourning alongside each of you for the unimaginable losses our community is enduring as the Eaton Fire continues to devastate our region. This tragedy has already taken so much, and the uncertainty it brings weighs heavily on us all.
The damage wrought by this fire cuts deeper than the physical destruction of homes and landscapes—it is also a profound spiritual wound. For many in our community, particularly Black and Brown families in Altadena, homeownership represents more than shelter; it is a hard-fought triumph over generations of systemic barriers, a symbol of stability and opportunity passed from generation to generation. The displacement caused by this disaster threatens not only the safety of today but also the aspirations of tomorrow, endangering the intergenerational legacy of equity and belonging that so many have worked tirelessly to build.
In moments like these, we are reminded that our greatest strength lies in community. As your neighbor, Collaborate PASadena and our staff and leadership remain steadfast in our commitment to those most impacted by this disaster. We are here to support those in need, advocate for relief efforts, and ensure no one faces these challenges alone.
If you or someone you know has been impacted, please reach out to us. Whether through connecting you to resources, organizing aid, or simply being a listening ear, we are here for you. Together, we can begin to heal and find ways to move forward, even in the face of such adversity.
We have created a list of organizations and services offering support to those impacted by the Eaton Fire, including assistance with housing, food, emotional support, and recovery efforts, and placed it on the home page of our website.
Additionally, we’ve included a list of ways to volunteer and donate to ongoing relief efforts for those looking to make a direct impact.
Thank you for being part of this community of care and action. Let us hold each other close as we navigate this time of grief and uncertainty.
With care and solidarity,
The Collaborate team
