Free Safety Training | Focus on Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities

March 24, 2017

On Monday, April 24, Leadership Pasadena is partnering with Villa Esperanza, Professional Child Development Associates, Ability First and PUSD to provide a FREE community safety training for families, caregivers and staff responsible for the care of individuals with an
INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY. Pasadena Police and Fire Departments and South Pasadena Police Department are also joining us.

The 90-minute training will give attendees the TOOLS TO PREPARE THEIR FAMILY MEMBER, AND THEMSELVES, FOR A SAFER INTERACTION WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT AND FIRST RESPONDERS.

Brian Herritt, a former police officer with a son on the autism spectrum, is a nationally known trainer of law enforcement and families and is donating his time to train us.

As Brian says "I never imagined that my family's daily dealings with autism would lead me to teach, consult and work with so many amazing people. I consider it an honor to represent not only law enforcement, but also the special needs community with what I do. People ask me what makes my courses and my teaching so different from everyone else. The answer is simple. I have walked in both worlds. I have been the cop who doesn't know what to do and I have also been the father who doesn't know what to do. Training needs to be realistic and practical. I aim to provide real answers to difficult situations."

Attached are two flyers, one in English and one in Spanish, describing the event and giving the EVENTBRITE link to RSVP.
